Around nine years of age the students move into the upper elementary program. With a strong foundation in basic skills and a broad cultural overview, the 9- to 12-year-old students inquire more deeply into physical and life science, advanced mathematics, grammar and composition, literature, geography, world history, music, and art.

Students of this age also engage in major works that have a long duration and involve the integration of many skills and much information.
As their abilities expand, so does their learning environment. Upper elementary students take part in overnight outings for camping, music retreats, and cultural studies several times each year.
